Our department has two major goals for its students; Firstly to provide opportunities to develop into healthy adults who remain in healthy physical activity when they leave the school. Secondly, we aim to develop elite performers so as they are prepared for high level competitions during their secondary school years.
In Key stages 3, 4 and 5 we deliver a variety of activities including traditional games of netball, rugby and football to more adventurous activities including street surfing, kickboxing and golf. This also includes gymnastics, dance, athletics and an extensive range of water based activities.
Our extra-curricular programme caters for all sports with strong clubs links in rugby, water polo and BMX cycling. These clubs are both for recreational enjoyment and for or top performers to develop into elite sportsmen and women. Our performances have been exceptional in the past two years winning County cups in rugby and football. This year’s highlight is our year 7 girls Futsal team reaching the National Finals in Birmingham and in the quarter finals of the national 9 aside competition.
Further to our core PE provision we also offer thriving GCSE PE and A Level PE courses to allow students to further their knowledge of Sport and PE. Alongside this the department also delivers a Level 3 BTEC in Public Services.
